The master class of the internationally famous pop and jazz artist Vicky Almazidou will be held from 24.06 to 07.07 at the New Bulgarian University and will end with a concert-performance “The History of Jazz Music” on the open stage of the amphitheater at the New Bulgarian University. The guest musician and teacher of this year’s edition of the master class will be Grigoris Simadopoulos, who will teach the young musicians the subtleties of harmony, jazz piano and improvisation in jazz music. The best performers in the class will take part in the concert, as well as the musicians: Julian Yanev – piano and synthesizer, Dimitar Gorchakov – piano and synthesizer, Vasil Hadjigrudev – double bass, Dimitar Blagoev – guitar, Arnau Garofe Faras – saxophone, Todor Bakardjiev – trumpet, Borislav Petrov – drums. The director of the performance will be Assoc. prof. Dr. Anna Pampulova.
This year, select participants of Almazidu’s master class will have the opportunity to participate in a big concert on the stage of the prestigious jazz music festival “Bansko Jazz Fest” on 12.08.2022. The concert is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of NBU and 85 years since its birth of Milcho Leviev. The visit of the young musicians in Bansko is the result of the partnership between the Festival and the New Bulgarian University, which aims to provide an opportunity for the young musicians to present what they have learned during the class and continue their musical growth. All participants in the concert will additionally have the chance to work with internationally recognized jazz musicians, including: Billy Cobham, Rosalia De Souza, George Cables and many others, as well as with Bulgarian performers: Prof. Tsvetan Nedyalkov, Prof. Stefka Onikyan, Angel Zaberski, Mihail Yosifov, Kamelia Todorova, Lyubomir Denev, Ventsislav Blagoev.
