Tim Garland Lighthouse trio

The career of Tim Garland brings together several musical worlds—jazz, classical music and contemporary composition. As a saxophonist, flautist, clarinetist and composer, he has spent decades shaping the sound of modern British jazz.
His professional journey began at London’s legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, before leading to a long and fruitful collaboration with jazz icon Chick Corea. For seventeen years Garland was a key member of several of Corea’s projects, and in 2007 he received a Grammy Award for his orchestral arrangements on The New Crystal Silence.
As a composer, Garland has written major works commissioned by the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and Royal Northern Sinfonia. His arrangements have been admired by musicians such as Chick Corea, John Patitucci and Jean-Luc Ponty.
At Bansko Jazz Festival, Garland appears with his celebrated Lighthouse Trio, featuring pianist Gwilym Simcock and drummer Asaf Sirkis. Over the years, the trio has become one of the most distinctive ensembles in European jazz, known for its exceptional communication, creative freedom and musical depth.
