The Storytellers

The Storytellers – they met 17 years ago in Istanbul at a master class as, respectively, a master and a student, who instantly decided they could work together and embark on a more serious creative collaboration; however, some technicalities thwarted this possibility. 17 years had passed before their reunion could take place. It happened in 2019 with The Storytellers project in Sofia. Their dream of collaborating together became a reality. Each of them is a virtuoso performer on their respective special acoustic guitar – Jenk Erdogan plays the fretless guitar and upholds the age-old mysterious Anatolian tradition, while Antonio Forcione has been called the “Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar” and composes beautiful Mediterranean music. Over the years, Forcione has performed on world stages with musicians such as Paco de Lucia, John McLachlan, John Scofield, Dominic Miller, Barney Kessel, Charlie Hayden and many others. Cenk Erdogan hails from Istanbul, the city that is a bridge between two worlds, where he shaped his unique style woven from the intertwining of Anatolian tradition and Western European music and culture. The two artists have an admirable friendship and, happily, look forward to their upcoming meeting with the audience to share it. Their repertoire consists of iconic original compositions by both musicians and new pieces specially composed for the occasion.
