The Gangtet is a young jazz quartet based in Thessaloniki, bringing together the energy of a new generation of musicians with an open approach to contemporary sound. Formed in late 2023, the group creates original music in the territory between jazz, funk and experimental expression, shaping its own aesthetic where improvisational freedom meets rhythmic drive and vivid ensemble interaction.
The quartet features Giannis Antonoglou on flute, Andreas Papakonstantinou on electric guitar, Nikolas Yersos on upright bass and Giannis Papageorgiou on drums. This instrumental combination gives the project a distinctive sound — light, dynamic and rich in colour, with flute and guitar in constant dialogue over the strong rhythmic foundation of bass and drums.
Only two years after its formation, The Gangtet is preparing the release of its debut album MANIFESTO, scheduled for 30 November 2025. The group has already performed at venues in Thessaloniki, Athens and Sofia, and their appearance at Bansko Jazz Festival presents a fresh and intriguing voice from the contemporary Greek jazz scene.
