Mordy Ferber Quintet

Mordy Ferber belongs to a generation of musicians for whom jazz is both a tradition and a field for constant exploration. Born in Israel and established on the New York jazz scene, he has developed a highly distinctive musical voice that combines technical mastery, fearless improvisation and profound compositional vision.
Jazz historian Scott Yanow has included Ferber among the 350 greatest jazz guitarists of all time, while legends such as Jack DeJohnette and Larry Coryell have praised his music for its originality, boldness and unmistakable individuality.
For Bansko Jazz Festival, Ferber brings a special international quintet featuring musicians from Israel, Greece, Italy and Albania. The project is the result of long-standing friendships and artistic partnerships, renewed nearly three decades after Ferber first met bassist Lakis Tsimkas at the Santorini Jazz Festival.
The ensemble includes Grammy-winning pianist Alon Yavnai, drummer Marcello Pellitteri, professor at Berklee College of Music and performer on more than one hundred recordings, vocalist and composer Eliona-Eleni Sinjari, and bassist Lakis Tsimkas, well known to Bulgarian audiences through his collaborations with leading jazz musicians from the Balkans and beyond.
The repertoire features original compositions by Ferber and the members of the ensemble, united by the language of contemporary jazz, rich improvisation and a deep sense of musical dialogue. It is a meeting of cultures, traditions and artistic perspectives transformed into a compelling concert experience.
