Pianist, composer, and arranger John Beasley has carved out an illustrious career, seamlessly bridging jazz, film, and television. A prodigious talent, he cut his teeth working with icons like Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard before collaborating with stars such as Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride, and Chaka Khan. Beasley’s influence extends deep into Hollywood, with contributions to more than 100 film and television scores. His footprint includes contributions to Thomas Newman’s acclaimed scores for Skyfall, 1917, and The Shawshank Redemption.

Since 2011, Beasley has helmed the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz as music director, spearheading International Jazz Day celebrations worldwide. His bold big band project, MONK’estra – reimagining Thelonious Monk’s genius – has earned six Grammy nominations and one win. A sought-after conductor, he has led major European jazz orchestras and garnered praise for collaborations with Maria Mendes and the Metropole Orkest. With two Grammy wins and 12 nominations, Beasley continues to shape modern music.

At this year’s Bansko Jazz Festival, he brings his John Beasley Trio – a powerhouse lineup featuring Beasley’s visionary piano, Darryl Hall’s virtuosic bass, and Nicolas Viccaro’s dynamic drums. Expect a thrilling fusion of contemporary jazz, deep grooves, and electrifying improvisation from a trio at the peak of their creative powers. A performance not to be missed.
