DJABE

For more than three decades, Djabe has been creating a unique musical universe where jazz, world music, progressive rock and ethnic traditions come together in a distinctive and unmistakable sound.
Founded in 1995, the Hungarian ensemble has established a special place within European fusion music. Throughout its remarkable career, Djabe has released more than fifty albums and performed in over forty-four countries worldwide. Their work has earned acclaim from both audiences and critics, as well as numerous awards, including the Hungarian Music Award, the eMeRTon Award and the International PRince Award.
A particularly important chapter in the band’s history is its long-standing collaboration with Steve Hackett, the legendary guitarist of Genesis, who famously described Djabe as “the best band I have ever played with.” In recent years, the group has also worked closely with Chieli Minucci, leader of the Grammy-nominated jazz fusion ensemble Special EFX.
In 2026, Djabe returns to Bansko with its classic six-member lineup: Zoltán Bubenyák (keyboards), Zoltán Zanai (saxophone and EWI), Tamás Barabás (bass guitar), Attila Égerházi (guitar and percussion), Áron Koós-Hutás (trumpet and flugelhorn), and Péter Kaszás (drums and vocals).
A Djabe concert is a true musical adventure—sophisticated compositions, inspired improvisation and a sound that connects jazz with cultures and traditions from around the world. Returning to Bansko as a longtime friend of the festival, the band promises another unforgettable encounter with music without borders.
