Camellia Todorova continues to shine as one of the most influential figures on Bulgaria’s jazz scene. With her signature elegance and extraordinary stage presence, she masterfully blends diverse musical styles – from classic jazz to pop, rock, and soul. Her upcoming project for Bansko Jazz Festival promises to be a remarkable musical event, encapsulating her rich artistic journey.

After graduating from the Sofia Music Academy, Camellia quickly established herself among the musical elite, collaborating with legends such as Lyudmil Georgiev, Simeon Shterev, and Petar Slavov. Her international performances and partnerships with icons like Don Cherry and Stan Getz have earned her global recognition. For the festival, she will perform with an exceptional ensemble featuring Kalin Jechev (piano), Daniele Febbo (double bass), and Atanas Popov (drums). Kalin Jechev’s arrangements will breathe new life into classics from the repertoires of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nina Simone.

In addition to timeless jazz standards, the program will include her emblematic Bulgarian hits from the 1980s, such as Whispered Dreams and Let This World Be in Love, as well as rock compositions from her album Two Souls in One, recorded with Queen’s Roger Taylor. Special attention will be given to her new songs, penned by her daughter Rachel Row – including А Beautiful Memory and Soft and Slow – which add a contemporary nuance to her artistry.

With this project, Camellia Todorova not only pays homage to the great traditions of jazz but also demonstrates its enduring relevance, meticulously reinterpreted through the prism of her unique style.
