Boyko Dimitrov Quartet

Bulgaria / Denmark / Sweden

The Boyko Dimitrov Quartet is an international project based in Denmark, bringing together musicians with extensive stage experience and a strong presence on the European jazz scene. The group is led by saxophonist Boyko Dimitrov, who grew up in Bulgaria and entered the jazz scene at an early age, performing with the Raicho Ivanov Sextet. In 1989, he moved to Denmark, where he became an active part of the country’s jazz life, performing in clubs, festivals and international formations.

The quartet features pianist Carl Winther, bassist Rune Fog and drummer Niclas Campagnol — musicians with impressive professional backgrounds, numerous recordings and collaborations with leading names from the international jazz world. Their shared musical language is built on improvisational freedom, refined ensemble interplay and a vivid sense of dialogue on stage.

For Bansko Jazz Festival, the quartet presents a specially prepared repertoire in which jazz standards and original compositions meet influences from modern jazz, Latin music, R&B, fusion, rock and blues. The result is a programme with a wide stylistic range, brought together by the expressive power of jazz and the energy of four musicians who turn every performance into a living musical conversation.
